A Teens and Traffic Stops class is presented periodically to teach teens how to respond if they get pulled over.

Concealed Carry Permit Classes

Concealed Carry Permit classes are offered for the public to complete the certification required to obtain a Louisiana Concealed Carry License.

Women's Self Defense

A class is offered to teach women self-defense techniques to help protect themselves from assault.

Public Safety Complex Opens in Wallace

A public safety complex was built in Wallace to increase police, fire and medical presence on the west bank.

Stemming an Uptick in Gun Violence

A recent initiative aimed at stemming an uptick in gun violence in St. John the Baptist Parish resulted in almost two dozen firearms taken off the streets as well as several arrests, Sheriff Mike Tregre has announced.

Scholarship Deadline is April 1

The deadline to apply for 2024 Louisiana Sheriffs' Association Scholarship is April 1, 2024. High school seniors from St. John Parish are eligible.
The LSA will award $1,000 scholarships providing assistance to worthy Louisiana students in furthering their education and training with resources made available through the Louisiana Sheriffs' Honorary Membership Program.
Applications MUST ONLY be submitted to the sheriff of the parish of applicants' residence. The deadline to submit an application is April 1.
An applicant must be eligible for admission to the Louisiana school of higher education indicated on the application.

Help Us Find Keith Cammon Jr.

Detectives with the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Keith Cammon Jr., 41, of LaPlace.
On February 16, 2024, Mr. Cammon was reported missing after his vehicle was found unoccupied on the Veterans Memorial Bridge. Mr. Cammon is described as a black male, about 6-ft., and weighs about 170 pounds.
Anyone who may have information on his whereabouts is encouraged to call the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office TIPS line at 985-359-TIPS, or the Criminal Investigations Division Det. Byron Smith at 504-494-3696. Citizens can also submit tips on the Sheriff’s Office website at :
