Estranged Wife of Victim Arrested in Connection with LaPlace Murder

On Wednesday, September 18, 2013, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Detectives arrested Toya Madison Toussaint in connection with the July murder of her estranged husband, Jonathan Toussaint.

In July, the three below were arrested in connection with the murder. As the investigation continued, detectives determined that Toya Madison Toussaint conspired in the murder of Jonathan Toussaint. The investigation is ongoing; detectives do not anticipate any other arrest.

Toya Madison Toussaint, 33, of Metairie was arrested on a judicial court ordered arrest warrant and booked with principal to 2nd degree murder and obstruction of justice – tampering with evidence. She remains in custody in lieu of a $550,000 bond.

 

 

On Monday, July 15, 2013, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Detectives arrested three persons in connection with the murder of Johnathan Toussaint, 33, of LaPlace, on July 10th .


 

Noron Spain, 17, of Lenzie Drive in LaPlace was arrested and booked with accessory after the fact to murder and simple burglary of an immovable structure. No bond was set.

 


Jaleel Riley, 18, of Michael Court in LaPlace was arrested and booked with first degree murder and simple burglary of an immovable structure. No bond was set.

 

16 year old LaPlace juvenile was also arrested and booked with first degree murder.

Press Release of July 10, 2013

On Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at 1:36 am, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a residence in the 1500 block of Ellerslie Avenue in LaPlace for the report of a man who was shot. The victim succumbed to injuries sustained from gunshots and pronounced dead on the scene. The victim was identified as Johnathan Toussain, 33, who lived at the Ellerslie Avenue address. No one else was injured.

Detectives encourage anyone with information regarding this incident to call St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Detectives at 985-359-TIPS or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
 

Citizens, submitting an anonymous tip to Crimestoppers, may qualify for a cash reward.  Anyone with information does not have to testify in court and will be issued a tip number to be identified for the potential award.
